With an area of 5,330 hectares, Lashihai Lake is about 9.3 km long from south to north and 8.2 km wide from east to west. It is the largest lake in Lijiang County. Surrounded by the mountains, the catchment of Lashihai is about 256.6 square meters.

Lashi Lake, also known as Lashihai, is about 10 kilometers from Lijiang Old Town. It enjoys monsoon climate. In the past, during the rainy season, the water level can reach 9 meters deep and the water storage is about 180 million cubic meters. While during the dry season, the lake will be dried and the bottom is visible. Due to the construction of the dam, the lake has changed from a seasonal lake to a plateau lake with a certain water level.

Lashihai Lake is suitable for traveling all year round. While from December to next February is the best time to watch migratory birds.
