Huangsong Village of Tongdian Town in Lanping County, Nujiang

Huangsong Village Committee is located in the highland area of Tongdian Town, Lantsang Bai and Pumi Autonomous County, Nujiang Prefecture, Yunnan Province, 5 kilometers away from Tongdian Town. It has 388 households and 1,653 people, and administers 3 natural villages (Huangsong Natural Village, Huaiyi Natural Village, and Dongshan Natural Village), with 6 villagers’ groups.

Historical Evolution

  • Before the Qing Dynasty, some settlements had been established.
  • During the Qing Dynasty, it was under the jurisdiction of Tongdian Xishan District of Lijiang Prefecture, and later became part of Shanglan District of Lijiang County.
  • In the early Republic of China, it was under the jurisdiction of the third district of Lantsang Prefecture (County), Shanglan District, and was known as Huasongchang Village at that time.
  • In 1933, with the implementation of district and township autonomy, it was under the jurisdiction of the second district of Letian Town.
  • In December 1940, with the implementation of the township, neighborhood, and household system, it was divided into Jianghe and Huasongchang, and was listed as the fourteenth neighborhood of Shanglan Township.
  • In 1953, when the district and township governments were established, the area around the original fourteenth neighborhood of Shanglan Township was designated as the second district of Shanglan Township, forming Huangsong Township.
  • In the second half of 1958, during the commune period, it was under the jurisdiction of Tongdian Commune, Huangsong Management Area.
  • In April 1962, when the district and township governments were established, the second district of Tongdian Town, Huangsong Commune, was established.
  • In November 1967, it was designated as Tongdian District Revolutionary Committee, Huangsong People’s Commune.
  • In January 1969, it was renamed as Tongdian Commune Revolutionary Committee, Huangsong Brigade.
  • In February 1984, when the district and township governments were established, the Tongdian District Huangsong Township People’s Government was established.
  • In December 1987, the district system was abolished and the township system was implemented, and the Tongdian Township Huangsong Village Office was established.
  • In December 2000, during the “village reform committee” period, it was named Tongdian Township Huangsong Village Committee.

Honors

  • In 2020, it was commended by the Central Civilization Commission as the “6th National Civilized Town and Village”.
  • In 2016, it was listed as a “National Traditional Village Demonstration Village”.
  • In March 2021, it was named the eighth batch of “National Democratic and Legal Model Village (Community)” by the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Civil Affairs.

Huangsong Village has a nearly 100-year-old Kuixing Pavilion, a strong academic atmosphere, and a flourishing culture, earning it the nickname “Hometown of Education”.
