Day 1 Kunming Arrival

    • Enjoy a relaxing walk around the picturesque Green Lake, where you’ll find a delightful selection of teahouses and quaint boutiques featuring unique handicrafts and stunning local artwork. If your schedule allows, you will also have the opportunity to embark on a city tour of Kunming.

Day 2 Kunming-Stone Forest-Kunming

Day 3 Kunming-360KM-Dali by High Speed Train

    • In the morning, you’ll board a high-speed train to Dali, a city renowned for its rich history and vibrant Bai ethnic culture.

    • Nestled at the base of Cangshan Mountain and overlooking Erhai Lake, the Three Pagodas consist of three ancient towers arranged in a symmetrical triangle.
  • Discover the Ecological Corridor
    • Next, you’ll have the chance to explore the Ecological Corridor of Dali, a picturesque area perfect for sightseeing and capturing stunning photographs.
  • Stroll Through Ancient Dali Town

Day 4 Dali-183KM- Lijiang by Private Car

  • Journey to Xizhou Town
    • After breakfast, you will set off for Xizhou Town to immerse yourself in the enchanting Bai-style traditional courtyards. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to savor their aromatic Three-Course Tea and delve into their unique culture.
    • A visit to Zhoucheng Village will take you to a Bai tie-dye cloth workshop, where you can pick up some special souvenirs reflecting Bai ethnic artistry.
  • Scenic Drive to Lijiang
    • You’ll then embark on a scenic drive of approximately 180 km to Lijiang, passing through picturesque farmlands and charming ethnic villages along the way.
    • Enjoy lunch at No. 8 Restaurant, located by the beautiful Black Dragon Pool. After your meal, you’ll visit the scenic Black Dragon Pool and the Dongba Museum to discover the rich culture of the Naxi minority.
  • Discover Lijiang Old Town
    • In the late afternoon, you will have the opportunity to explore Lijiang Old Town, a historical gem with over 800 years of rich heritage. Designated as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site in 1997, this area showcases stunning wooden architecture representative of the Naxi ethnic group.

Day 5 Lijiang

Sightseeing and Activities:Yulong Snow Mountain, Ganhaizi Meadow, Baishui River and Terraces, Baisha Old Town and Murals

  • Sunrise at Jade Dragon Snow Mountain
    • Start your day by witnessing the breathtaking sunrise over Jade Dragon Snow Mountain and Lijiang Ancient Town.
    • After this stunning experience, you’ll drive approximately 30 km to Ganhaizi Meadow (3,100 meters above sea level). From there, you will take a sightseeing bus for a brief tour along the Baishuihe River,  and Blue Moon Valley followed by a chairlift ride to explore Jade Dragon Snow Mountain.
    • The cableway schedule will be determined by the mountain’s conditions. Prepare for a one-hour hike through the pristine forest of Spruce Meadow (3,200 meters).
  • Cultural Experience at Impression Lijiang
    • After enjoying a delicious lunch, immerse yourself in the Impression Lijiang Ethnic Show at Ganhaizi Meadow (3,100 meters).
    • This vibrant cultural performance showcases the traditions and lifestyles of the Naxi, Yi, and Bai peoples from the region.
    • Taking place in an outdoor theater designed specifically to highlight Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, which serves as a stunning backdrop, the show features a cast of over 500 performers and includes horses. The production is crafted by renowned directors Zhang Yimou, Fan Yue, and Wang Chaoge.
  • Explore Baisha Old Town
    • In the afternoon, you will have the chance to wander through Baisha Old Town, a charming and traditional Yunnan village.
    • While there, be sure to visit the Baisha Murals, which date back approximately 600 years and are part of the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage designation from 1997.

Day 6 Lijiang-Tiger Leaping Gorge-Shangri-La

  • Journey from Lijiang to the First Bend of the Yangtze River
    • Embarking from Lijiang, you’ll travel approximately 60 kilometers to the breathtaking First Bend of the Yangtze River, where striking gorge scenery awaits you. Along the way, make sure to stop at the Iron Chain Bridge and the Red Army’s Long March Memorial Monument dedicated to the Red Army in Shigu town. The town of Stone Drum derives its name from a prominent, cylindrical marble tablet resembling a drum. As you navigate through the Lijiang valley, you’ll be treated to spectacular scenery filled with golden wheat fields and sun-dried haystacks.
  • Exploring Tiger Leaping Gorge
    • Next, prepare to visit Tiger Leaping Gorge, recognized as the deepest gorge on the planet. This remarkable landscape features 34 rapids of the Yangtze River, known locally as the Jinsha River, a name derived from the presence of gold found within its waters.
  • Arrival in Shangri-La
    • In the afternoon, you’ll continue your journey toward Shangri-La, formerly known as Zhongdian, celebrated as a paradise for travelers.
    • Upon your arrival, you’ll find yourself in a vibrant Tibetan cultural region, characterized by sprawling barley fields and yaks dotting the hills. Be sure to explore Dukezong Ancient Town, a significant hub along the historic Tea-Horse Road that connected Yunnan to Tibet and India.

Day 7 Shangri-La

    • Begin your day with a visit to the Ganden Sumtseling Monastery, the largest Tibetan monastery in Yunnan. Often referred to as the “Little Potala Palace,” Songzanlin Monastery boasts a traditional architectural style that exudes a sense of mystery and reverence.
  • Discovering Bita Lake and Shudu Lake
    • Next, you will explore the serene Bita Lake and Shudu Lake within Pudacuo National Park. This park is known for its rich biodiversity and is situated in one of the most biologically diverse areas globally. Despite covering only 0.7 percent of China’s total land area, Pudacuo National Park is home to over 20 percent of the nation’s plant species, roughly one-third of its mammal and bird species, along with nearly 100 endangered species.
  • Visit a Tibetan Village
    • Following your exploration of the lakes, continue your journey by driving to a nearby Tibetan village. Here, you will experience the unique culture and lifestyle of the Tibetan people.

Day 8 Shangri-La – Deqin

Sightseeing and Activities:Bengzilan Town, the Moon Bend of Jinsha River, Dongzhulin monastery and Baima Snow Mountain

  • Journey to Deqin County
    • In the morning, embark on a scenic 4 to 5-hour drive to Deqin County (elevation 3,400 meters), located 187 km from Zhongdian, passing through the Baima Snow Mountain Nature Reserve. If the weather permits, you’ll be treated to stunning views of Baima Snow Mountain, reaching a peak altitude of 4,292 meters along the way at the 156 km mark.
  • Scenic Stops Along the Route
    • After navigating through the picturesque mountain ranges, you’ll make a quick stop for lunch in Benzilan Town. Take some time to capture photos at the breathtaking first bend of the Jinsha River (also known as the Yangtze River), as well as at the Dongzhulin Monastery and Baima Snow Mountain. The journey offers spectacular scenery, featuring a variety of trees, rushing streams flowing down the valley, vibrant prayer flags, ancient stupas, and traditional Tibetan villages.

Day 9 Deqin

Sightseeing and Activities:the sunrise of Meili Snow Mountain, Lancang-Mekong Grand Canyon, Mingyong Glacier Park

  • Early Morning Sunrise at Meili Snow Mountain
    • Make an effort to rise early in the morning to witness the enchanting sunrise over Meili Snow Mountain. Following this breathtaking experience, drive for another 1.5 hours to Mingyong Village.
  • Trekking to Mingyong Glacier
    • Once you arrive in Mingyong Village, embark on a 4 km hike along the trails that lead to the Mingyong Glaciers of Meili Snow Mountain. After another hour of walking, you’ll reach the Tibetan Taizi Monastery, which offers a fantastic viewpoint for admiring the stunning Mingyong Glaciers. (Optionally, you can hire a horse at your own expense to make the trek to the glacier easier.)
  • Exploring the Lancang River Grand Canyon
    • After your visit to the Mingyong Glacier, enjoy some trekking along the Lancang River Grand Canyon while exploring nearby Tibetan villages. This section of your trip is sure to leave you with lasting memories of Yunnan. As you make your way back to Feilaisi from the Lancang-Mekong River, take in the beautiful views of both Meili Snow Mountain and Baima Snow Mountain.

Day 10 Deqin-Shangri-La

Sightseeing and Activities:Feilaisi Monastery

  • Exploration of Feilaisi
    • Visit Feilaisi Monastery and enjoy the sunrise of Meili Snow Mountain in the early morning, then drive back to Shangri-La, have a nice experience of Yangtze River Grand Canyon, Baima Snow Mountain again on the way back.
