The Great Bend of Red River in Yuanyang County, Honghe
Jinsha River Big Bend, also known as Moon Bay, is a breathtaking natural wonder where the Diqu River flows north to south and meets the Maiyi and Shuoqu Rivers before joining the Jinsha River. This confluence creates the stunning sight of “three walls embracing two rivers.”
The Great Bend of Red River in Honghe(红河大拐弯) is located on the way from Honghe County to Yuanyang County. With the great location between Jianshui County and Yuanyang County, The Great Bend of Red River makes a big turn with wonderful view from the view platform(红河大拐弯观景台). People can stop to enjoy the wonderful of of the great bend if you are driving along the Honghe rivr valley.
As the Jinsha River navigates its way through mountains and valleys, it appears to pause momentarily at this gateway between Sichuan and Yunnan, gracefully slowing down to make a “U” turn around the pyramid-shaped peak of Feilai Temple.
Designated as one of China’s top forty scenic spots, the view from the mountaintop evokes exhilaration and awe, showcasing the magnificence of nature!

Transportation: The viewpoint is located in Benzilan Town, Deqin County, approximately 80 kilometers from Shangri-La and around 100 kilometers from Deqin County.
Shangri-La to the Viewpoint
- By Bus: A bus departs daily from the Shangri-La Passenger Station at 14:00 to Benzilan, costing around 25 yuan per person and taking about 2 hours.
- By Private Car: Numerous minibuses leave for Benzilan daily from the roadside near the Feima Sculpture Roundabout on the northern section of Changzheng Avenue in Shangri-La.

Self-Driving: The trip along National Highway 214, a mountainous road, takes approximately 2.5 hours.
