The news was updated on April 2, 2019.
A tourist group from Chicago, the USA, recently visited the Tacheng national forest park in Weixi County, Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture. The park is home to the Yunnan snub-nosed monkeys.
“We are excited to watch the monkeys so closely in the wilderness, and seeing they are free to come and go, we are all in a good mood,” said Adamu, member of the American tourist group.
Adamu added they arrived here last night, seeing through the pictures and videos about the Yunnan monkeys in advance. The group came to china for traveling and language learning.
The American tourist said this was a totally different experience from that in any other zoo for the monkeys are especially free here and the tour guides and staffs are really helpful.
Yu Wenwu, a ranger whose job is to look after the monkey, said he collects and tests the feces of each monkey once a month, in an effort to see if there are parasites in it.
As a Lisu local, Yu added he also has the duty to protect the lush woods and clear waters in the national park.
Qilin Lachu, a tour guide at the national park, hoped that to create a better life for the Yunnan monkeys, she is willing to guide tourists in caring for the plants and animals alike.
