Before May: The Shambhala Stupa and other attractions are still covered in snow, creating a breathtakingly beautiful scene.

May to November: The vegetation is lush, and the canyons and forests are picturesque. The climate is relatively mild, making it suitable for hiking and other activities. Many Tibetan pilgrims, photographers, and adventure enthusiasts visit during this period.

Shangri-La Grand Canyon (香格里拉大峡谷): Stretching 154 kilometers, this canyon is one of the deepest in Yunnan and China. It is renowned for its “high, deep, and dangerous” features, as well as its “strange, magnificent, and unique” beauty. The canyon is connected by trails, and visitors can explore it via hiking trails or by rafting.

Bala Village (巴拉村): Located at an altitude of 2900 meters, this village has a history of over 1300 years. It is an excellent place to experience Tibetan culture, customs, and traditions. Visitors can tour the Tibetan-style village architecture, visit the ancestral home of Sina Dingzhu, and enjoy coffee and scenic views at the “Yinshan Lin Ye” café.

Shambhala Stupa (香巴拉佛塔): At an altitude of 4050 meters, this natural stupa is extremely spectacular when the Qudeng Sacred Mountain is covered in snow.

Millennium Bodhi Tree (千年菩提树): Over 3000 years old, this tree stands on a cliff with branches that seem to cling to the rock face. Known as the “Phoenix Bodhi Tree,” it has even grown a miraculous left hand of Buddha on its trunk.

Echo Wall (回音壁): The world’s highest natural echo wall, over 3000 meters above sea level, allows visitors to hear echoes when shouting towards the cliff. The area also features a glass plank road and aerial tram with a vertical drop of 700 meters, offering thrilling experiences and stunning views.

Nixi Clay Pot Chicken (尼西土锅鸡): Made with Nixi black pottery and local free-range chickens, this dish has a rich and delicious soup. Adding matsutake mushrooms enhances its flavor. Note that matsutake is a seasonal delicacy available only during the matsutake season.
