2.Geographical Location

Huize county belongs to Qujing Municipal, locating in the Northeast of Yunnan Province. Coordinates:26° 24′ 57.2″ N, 103° 17′ 36.6″ E. It is 120 km (75 mi) from the center of Qujing. Huize is located between mountains with rice fields at one side and a large earth dam to the south. Some of the mountain areas are blasted for construction materials.

3.Introduction

Tempered by the low latitude and moderate elevation, Huize has a mild subtropical highland climate (Köppen Cwb), with short, mild, dry winters, and warm, rainy summers. A great majority of the year's rainfall occurs from June to September. The vertical distribution of vegetation types in Huize is very obvious. It is divided into three types, subalpine shrubs and meadows, distributed over 3,000 meters above sea level, with more than 200 herbs. The rivers in the territory belong to the Jinsha River water system. The Jinsha River is named after the golden sands in the upper reaches. It is also known as Lishui in ancient times.

4.History

In Sui Dynasty belonged to Gongzhou. Tangxing County was established at the beginning of the Tang Dynasty. During the Nanzhao Kingdom it was located in Dongchuan County. During the Dali Kingdom there was the Governor of Dongchuan. At Yuan Dynasty it was Dongchuan Road. During the Ming Dynasty, it was Dongchuan Prefecture. In the 5th year of Qing Emperor Yongzheng (1727), he transferred Yunnan Province, and he settled it as Huize County, and moved to Zhongping in the following year. In the second year of the Republic of China (1913), the Dongchuan government was renamed Dongchuan County. In 1927, the county was re-established. In 1947, it belonged to the Qujing Agency. After the new China, it was changed to the Zhaotong Special Administrative Department. In October 1958, the Dongchuan City was withdrawn. In December 1964, the restoration of Huize County was changed to the Qujing area.

Huize is a multi-ethnic county with Han, Hui, Yi, Zhuang, Miao, Bai, Naxi ethnic minorities. Tibetan, Yao, Lahu, Yi, Hani, Mongolia, Achang, Pumi, Dulong, Yi, Buyi, Water, Dongxiang and other 25 ethnic groups are still in Huize. The inhabitants of the world have five ethnic groups: Han, Hui, Yi, Zhuang and Miao. Ethnic minorities account for about 5% of the total population of Huize County. Among the ethnic minorities, there are many Hui, Yi, Zhuang, Miao and Bai ethnic groups. The most populous minority in Huize County is the Hui. All townships (towns) have ethnic minorities living inhabited, forming a ethnic group with large mixed populations, and all ethnic groups live in harmony. Xinjie Township, where Hui people live in concentrated areas, is the only minority township in Huize County.
