2. Location
Ninglang County is located at east longitude 100 ° 29 '22' ~ 101 ° 15 '51 ", north latitude 26 ° 34' 54 "~ 27 ° 55 '34" between the junction of Sichuan and Yunnan. It is neighboring with Yanyuan County(盐源县) and Yanbian County(盐边县) in the east and northeast respectively; connected with Huaping County(华坪县) and Yongsheng County(永胜县) in the south and southeast; across Jinsha River from Naxi County and Gucheng District; and adjacent to Muli Tibetan Autonomous County in sichuan province.

At the end of 2011, there were 7 communities and 84 villages under the jurisdiction of Ninglang County, including 1 town, 13 townships, and 1 ethnic township. The seat of government sits in Daxing Town.
4. Climate
Ninglang is a plateau monsoon region of low latitude with distinct dry and wet seasons. Due to the impact of plateau and alpine canyon topography, the three-dimensional climate is remarkable. Average annual rainfall of 920 mm, annual average sunshine 2298 hours, annual frost-free period 190 days, annual average temperature 12.7 ℃. Annual extreme lowest temperature is about 9 ℃ below zero, the extreme maximum temperature will reach 30 ℃ or so.

The months from March to October is the best time to visit Ninglang County. In addition, considering that the months from July to September is the rainy season, the road to Ninglang County will appear mountain landslide and debris flow, so do not choose this time to visit.

8. Things to Do
• Lugu Lake: Dotted with islets and surrounded by high mountains, Lugu Lake is an idyllic beauty spot not yet overrun by tourists.
• Yongning Hot Spring: Yongning Hot Spring has an area of about 50 square meters with constant temperature of 38 ℃, which is a natural bathing beach. Due to its hydrogen sulfide content, it has high medical value, especially to arthritis and skin diseases.
• Qinglonghai Lake: Also known as Tianhu Lake, it is located at the top of Yao Mountain at an altitude of 4,033 meters. It is rich in cordyceps sinensis, fritillaria and other rare herbs, which is called "Jade Pool on the Summit".
• Zhamei Monastry: It is located at the foot of Guer mountain, northwest of Pijiang street, Yongning township. Founded in the 35th year of Jiajing in the Ming dynasty, Zami Monastry is a lamasery of the gelug sect of Tibetan Buddhism.
9. History and Culture
Ninglang has a long history. According to the excavation site, human beings lived here more than 4,000 years ago. As a Multi-ethnic area, Ninglang County's ethnic culture is dominant, which is embodied in festival, sacrificing, clothing, food, marriage, etc. Among them, “Women’s World” of Mosuo people is most notable.
11. Economy
In 1986, it was listed as a state-level poverty-stricken county; in 2001, it was listed as a key county in national poverty alleviation and development work; and in 2017, it was listed as one of 27 deep poverty-stricken counties of Yunnan province. At present, there are still 61 deep poverty-stricken villages in the county, accounting for 55.5% of the deep poverty-stricken villages in Lijiang city.
