Shaxi Ancient Town Culture

The main inhabitants of Shaxi town are Bai, Yi, Lishu, Naxi and Han people. Bai ethnic groups take up the dominant part of the whole population and many of its old buildings follow the Bai-style of “three rooms and one wall screening”. The Bai people celebrate a myriad of indigenous festivals, from the Folk Song Festival on Mount Shibao to the Rao San Ling Festival, but the three most important festivals are the Sanyue Festival, Torch Festival, and Benzhu Festivals.
