Yuanjiang County Culture
When most people hear the name Yuanjiang, they will certainly be strangers, and they must not think that there are many ethnic minorities living in this small county. Yuanjiang is a good place to enjoy the special culture of Dai, Yi and Hani ethnic minorities, whose costumes and language are unique.
1.Ethnic Groups in Yuanjiang
There are 17 ethnic groups in the county. There are 8 ethnic groups live there all the time, which are Yi, Dai, Han, Hani, Lahu, Hui, Miao and Bai.

There are 6 ethnic villages in Yuanjing County, which are Yicibei Village of Wadie Town in Yuanjiang County, Yuxi(玉溪市元江县洼垤乡邑慈碑村), Erzhang Village of Nanuo Town in Yuanjiang County, Yuxi(玉溪市元江县那诺乡二掌村), Podie Village of Wadie Town in Yuanjiang County, Yuxi(玉溪市元江县洼垤乡它才吉村委会坡垤村), Anding Village of Yinyuan Town in Yuanjiang County, Yuxi(玉溪市元江县因远镇安定村), Niguo Shangzhai Village of Yangjie Town in Yuanjiang County, Yuxi(玉溪市元江县羊街乡尼果上寨) and Zhega Village of in Lijiang Subdistrict in Yuanjiang County, Yuxi(玉溪市元江县澧江街道龙潭村委会者嘎村).
3. Ethnic Festivals
Festivals are a major feature of ethnic minorities. In Yuanjiang county, every ethnic groups celebrates their own festival, such as the Huajie Cultural Tourism Festival of Dai Ethnic People and Torch Festival.
