罗刹阁在苍山莲花峰麓。阁建在阳溪南岸山麓的一大巨石上。巨石高6米左右，宽10余米，从中间分为两半，石隙距咫尺，传说中的妖魔罗刹就锁于石缝内。石上的阁就是为了纪念观音收伏罗刹而建。关于观音伏罗刹的故事，地方史籍均有记载。“罗刹封石”为大理的名胜古迹之一，春秋四时均有人前往凭览，并有题咏歌颂观音大士。
