Construction History
-
Preparation Work: In December 2008, the Miao Wei Hydropower Station obtained the road permit from the National Development and Reform Commission.
-
Commencement of Construction: The riverbed was blocked in early November 2011, the concrete pouring of the power station foundation began in early July 2012, and the installation of the units began in early April 2014.
-
Water Storage and Power Generation: The water was blocked and stored in late April 2015, the first unit was put into operation in late May 2016, and all units were put into operation in late March 2017.
Project Significance
-
Energy Supply: The Miao Wei Hydropower Station is an important power source for “West-to-East Power Transmission” and “Yunnan Power Transmission”. Its completion and operation are of great significance for Yunnan Province to accelerate the cultivation and growth of the electricity pillar industry with hydropower as the mainstay and to achieve green development.
-
Environmental Protection: During the construction of the project, the “three simultaneous” system of soil and water conservation was strictly implemented, and the national soil and water conservation policies were earnestly followed, forming a comprehensive soil and water conservation measures system. It has won the China Power Quality Project Award and the China Installation Project Quality Award (China Installation Star).
-
Regional Development: The construction of the power station has promoted local socio-economic development, improved the infrastructure conditions of transportation and communication in the surrounding areas, provided a large number of employment opportunities for the local area, and increased residents’ income.
