Manzhang Village is located in Mengyang Town, Jinghong City, Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province. It has emerged in recent years as a village dedicated to the preservation and development of Dai ethnic culture. Manzhang’s emergence stems from local government support for smaller ethnic populations and has thrived due to growing public interest in traditional culture.

About 10 kilometers from downtown Jinghong, entering the village feels like entering a tourist resort. However, as you venture further, a different world unfolds. Beneath ancient Bodhi trees and amidst distinctive Dai wooden houses, friendly locals warmly invite visitors to experience various Dai handicrafts such as brewing rice wine, making paper, and weaving Dai brocade, offering a rich immersion into traditional cultural practices.

Manzhang RV Campsite

Manzhang Village boasts a long history as a Dai ethnic village, characterized by its pristine natural beauty, cultural richness, and continuous Dai ethnic heritage in its original, undeveloped state. With over 500 years of history, the village is home to 102 households, maintaining its traditional charm with stilted bamboo houses, clean streets adorned with flowers and greenery.

The Dai people, also known as the Dai Tai ethnic group, are one of China’s ethnic minorities, yet they form the majority in Thailand and Laos. With a total population of approximately 68 million (including 1.23 million in China), they are spread across Thailand, Laos, Myanmar, India, Vietnam, China, and Cambodia. This ethnic group is known by various names: “Dai Zu” in China, “Thai” in Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam, “Lao” in Laos, “Shan” in Myanmar, and “Assam” in India.

Introduction to Manzhang RV Campsite

  • The RVs are designed for two people and cannot accommodate extra beds.
  • The campsite offers 15 standardized RVs, each equipped with a shower, toilet, TV, air conditioning, sofa, and a private courtyard of 50 square meters.
  • Price: 428 RMB per RV per night.
