Chenggong District Festivals and Events

 Here we list the main festivals in Chenggong District.

1.Huadu Cultural Tourism Festival

It’s Annually held in August 15, lasts two days in total. Travelers can listen to Yunnan Opera, watch lanterns, folk songs, floats, flower art, food and view exhibition. In addition to appreciate intangible cultural heritage, you also can feel the charm of cultural creativity, and experience traditional cultural feasts such as torch festival singing and dancing revelry.

2.Torch Festival

It is a grandest event of Yi ethnic minority, local Yi people will celebrate it on the 24th day of lunar June in Shilin Country. They gather and collected torch together into an burning tower, then sing and dance around the torch tower.

3.Hunting God Festival

Lieshen (Hunting God) festival of Yi ethnic group is held at Jiuxiang during the 1st to 3rd day of lunar January. Antiphonal singing, bullfight, dance and many other folk activities will be conducted.

4.Sanyuesan Festival

Sanyuesan means the day of March 3rd, and it is a day for the locals to have a trip and eye feast on flowers in Spring. It was especially busy in the West Hill and Gold Temple in Kunming.
