Gucheng District Transportation

Gucheng District is a county-level district located in Lijiang City Prefecture, Yunnan, China. Its county seat is the town of Dayan (大研镇), otherwise known as the old town of Lijiang. Since ancient times, it has been an important spot and military strategic location of southern silk road and “ancient tea-horse road”. How to Get to Gucheng District?

1.By Air

Lijiang Sanyi International airport is the third international airport in Yunnan province after Kunming Changshui International Airport and Xishuangbanna Gasha International Airport. The air lines connects the cities of Kunming, Chongqing, Chengdu, Xian, Zhengzhou, Jinan, Changsha, Nanjing, Hangzhou, Fuzhou, Wuhan, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Xiamen, Shanghai, Tianjin, Sanya, Dalian, Xingyi, etc.

Lijiang airport is a fair distance from the Gucheng District, about 28km east.

• By Taxi

There is a RMB 20 road tax to the airport, and a taxi to the airport takes about 40 minutes and costs about RMB 100.

2.By Train

Lijiang Railway Station is the main transport hub of Lijiang tourism and an important part of the railway of Yunnan and Tibet. There are round-trip trains running between Lijiang and Kunming, Dali, and Qujing. In the near future, the bullet train will also be available between Kunming, Dali and Lijiang.

Buses No. 4, No.16, No.18 all run between Lijiang Train Station and Gucheng District. Check the attraction you want to visit and take the right bus.

• By Taxi

Taxi is also available to from Lijiang Train Station and Gucheng District.

3. By Long-distance Bus

Long-distance Bus is very popular among tourists. There are long-distance buses directly running between Gucheng District of Lijiang and Kunming, Ruili, Liuku, Baoshan, Tengchong, Xishuangbanna, and Xichang, Chengdu, etc.

How to Get Around Gucheng District?

1.Taxi

Smaller sized cars are RMB6 for the first 3 KM and 1.6/KM thereafter and bigger cars like Santana are RMB7 for the first 3 KM and 1.8/KM thereafter. Although few drivers use the meter during the day, most journeys should not cost more than RMB6. The night pricing policy is a bit strange, after 10PM, meters are not used at all, and the fare is always RMB10. It should cost about RMB300 to hire a taxi for the entire day.

2.Public Bus

Most of the buses are RMB 1. Some have ticket collectors, which others are help-yourself ticketing. Check the Bus Line before you getting on.

3.Bicycle 

Bicycles are forbidden in the ancient town of Lijiang, and in any case, the lanes around here are too rough to ride a bicycle across. Many people hire bikes to travel to nearby villages however and to visit some of the scenic spots in the area.

4. Car-Rental

It's very convenient to travel around by renting a car.
