Jingdong County Culture

Jingdong Ethnic Culture is diverse and colorful. It is a place where multi-ethnic groups inhabit. Different nationalities create different culture. 

1. Ethnic Groups in Jingdong County

According to the Jingdong County Almanac (1994:519), ethnic Yao numbered 3,889 individuals in 1990, and lived mainly in Chaqing and Dasongshu Villages of Taizhong Township. Yao language speakers are found in Puya Village, Chaqing Township (Jingdong County Ethnic Gazetteer 2012:144). The Hani of Jingdong (autonym: Kaduo 卡多) numbered 10,861 individuals as of 1990 and live primarily in Wenjing,  Zhehou, and Huashan Townships. The Jingdong County Ethnic Gazetteer (2012:209) was indicated that there were about 200 ethnic Bulang in Manbeng Village, Dachaoshandong Town.

3. Ethnic Festivals in Jingdong County

The ethnic minorities, such as Wa, Lahu, Dai, Yi, Hani in Jingdong, have a long history and splendid culture with strong ethnic customs. Lahu people's Hulu Festival,Lahu's Kuota Festival, Wa's Wooden Drum Festival all present the local unique folk custom and culture.
