2. Where is Jingdong County

Jingdong Yi Autonomous County is affiliated to Pu'er City, Yunnan Province. It is located in the southwestern part of Yunnan Province and the northern end of Pu'er City. It is located between 100°22’-101°15’  east longitude and 23°56’-24°29’ north latitude. The county is bordered by Chuxiong City and Shuangbai County, and the south is opposite to Zhenyuan County. The west of Jingdong County looks at Yunxian County by Lancang River. The north of Jingdong is connected with Nanjian County and Midu County. The area is 4,532 square kilometers. The county seat of Jingdong County,Jinping Town is away from Kunming City, the provincial capital, 477 kilometers and is 279 kilometers away from Pu'er City.

4. Ethnic People of Jingdong County

According to the Jingdong County Almanac (1994:519), ethnic Yao numbered 3,889 individuals in 1990, and lived mainly in Chaqing and Dasongshu Villages of Taizhong Township. Yao language speakers are found in Puya Village, Chaqing Township (Jingdong County Ethnic Gazetteer 2012:144). The Hani of Jingdong (autonym: Kaduo 卡多) numbered 10,861 individuals as of 1990 and live primarily in Wenjing,  Zhehou, and Huashan Townships. The Jingdong County Ethnic Gazetteer (2012:209) was indicated that there were about 200 ethnic Bulang in Manbeng Village, Dachaoshandong Town.

Jingdong Yi Autonomous County (景东彝族自治县) is an autonomous county under the jurisdiction of Pu'er Prefecture, Yunnan Province, China. Located in the west of Jinping Town of Jingdong County and covering 5,292 square meters, the Confucian Temple stands in front of the Yuping Mountain. Within the territory, there are over 10 scenic plots such as Jingdong Temple(景东文庙), Yubishan Park(御笔山), Jingdong Wetland Park(景东湿地公园), Yujiang Square(驭江广场), Kainan Book Courtyard(开南书院) and so on.

Jingdong County can be accessible by long-distance bus. There is a Passenger Transport Bus Station in Jingdong County. Tourists can take long-distance buses to Jingdong from Kunming, Jinggu, Jinghong, etc.

9. History of Jingdong County

In the 1986 cultural relics survey, the stone axe, stoneware and other objects of the Neolithic Age were discovered in the Lancang River flowing through the county and along the Chuanhe River, which is indicated that human beings lived in Jingdong in ancient times.
