Lijiang Gucheng Social Welfare Institute

Lijiang Children’s Welfare Institute was established in May 2007 and operates as a fully-funded institution under the Lijiang Civil Affairs Bureau. Its primary responsibilities include propagating and implementing the party’s and state’s policies, laws, and regulations concerning social welfare. The institute focuses on centrally nurturing orphaned and abandoned infants who meet the criteria in Lijiang City, ensuring their basic living needs and comprehensive development in morality, intelligence, physical health, and aesthetics.

Lijiang Ancient City District Social Welfare Institute began construction in early 2004 and was officially inaugurated in February 2007. It is located at 405 Qingyun East Road in the Ancient City District of Lijiang. This institute operates as a unit under the Lijiang Ancient City District Civil Affairs Bureau. It occupies a total area of 14.42 acres with a building area of 9240.44 square meters, accommodating 280 beds for elderly care. The institute includes offices such as the Director’s Office, Party Affairs Office, General Office, Finance Office, and Elderly Apartments. Currently, there are 8 permanent staff members and 16 temporary workers. The institute’s main service recipients are 66 severely needy individuals in centralized care and 18 elderly individuals in paid social foster care.
