Necessary Documents for Entry & Exit Yunnan
- Passport: A passport is always required when traveling from one country to another. This is the authorized identification document issued by your country of citizenship that confirms your identity and nationality.

- Procedures of the customs: The foreigners cannot enter Yunnan at the appointed ports open to them unless they have valid credentials.
Customs Clearance
In accordance with “Customs Law of the People’s Republic of China”, inward and outward passengers shall enter or leave the territory at the place where the Customs is established. Passengers shall be subject to Customs control, and shall declare honestly to the Customs.
All inward and outward passengers entering or leaving China, except those who are exempted from examination or control in accordance with relevant regulations and those under the age of 16 traveling with adults, shall complete <China Customs Baggage Declaration for Outward Passengers> or <China Customs Baggage Declaration for Inward Passengers>.
Note: Inward or outward baggage effects, personal articles carried by international passengers shall be limited to the PERSONAL USE only and subject to REASONABLE QUANTITY control.

Entry Regulations
According to the Chinese Customs Regulations, tourists from foreign countries should pay attention to their articles carried in Yunnan.
The following articles are prohibited (neither in checked nor carry-on luggage):
- Arms, ammunition, and explosives of all kinds
- Controlled knife tools which are listed in “Interim provision for controlling implement of part of knife tools”
- Corrosive corporation
- Radio transmitters-receivers and principal parts
- Manuscripts, printed matter, films, photographs, gramophone records, cinematographic films, loaded recording tapes and videotapes, etc. which are detrimental to China’s politics, economy, culture and ethics
- Poisonous drugs, habit-forming drugs, opium, morphine, heroin, etc.
- Animals, plants and products thereof infected with or carrying germs and insect pests
- Unsanitary foodstuffs and germ-carrying food-stuffs from infected areas
- Other articles the import of which is prohibited by state regulations

Exit Regulations
Here is a briefing exit regulation introduction for tourists who will departure Yunnan by international flight to other countries. The following articles are prohibited to bring out of Yunnan (neither in checked nor carry-on luggage):
- Arms, ammunition, and explosives of all kinds
- Radio transmitters-receivers and principal parts
- Renminbi (Chinese currency) in cash and negotiable securities in RMB
- Unratified foreign currency, foreign notes or drafts
- Manuscripts, printed matter, films, photographs, gramophone records, cinematographic films, loaded recording tapes and videotapes, etc. which are detrimental to China’s national security
- Rare and precious copies of books about Chinese revolution, history, culture and art that are not for sale
- Valuable animals, plants and seeds
- Precious metals, pearls, and jewels (Things declared to the customs are exempted)
- Other articles the export of which is prohibited by state regulations

144-Hour Visa-Free Transit in Kunming City
Kunming in Yunnan China has implemented the 144-hour visa-free transit program. Passport holders of the 53 qualifying countries can be granted a visa- free stay of up to 144 hours if they transfer via Kunming Changshui Airport on the way to a third country. During the stay, they can leave the airport, making it possible to conduct a layover tour.
