🚗 Day 1: Kunming Assembly

After flying from Singapore to Kunming Changshui International Airport, our staff will greet you with a pick-up sign and escort you to your designated vehicle. The 11-person group will be transferred to Hilton Garden Inn Kunming for check-in.

In the afternoon, for early arrivals, we will assist you with the process of applying for your Temporary Chinese Driving Permit (临时驾驶证) at the Kunming Vehicle Management Office (昆明市车管所).
Estimated processing time: 1 hour.

Documents you must prepare in advance:

  • Original passport(护照)
  • Valid foreign driver’s license(驾照)
  • Chinese visa (visa-free nationals may be exempt)(签证)
  • Official translation of your driver’s license (prepared by Yaso Trip Team)(驾照翻译件)

Afterward, you can stroll around the area near the hotel, sample Kunming Over-the-Bridge Rice Noodles and Steam-Pot Chicken, and enjoy the laid-back atmosphere of the Spring City.

🚗 Day 2: Kunming – Dali

Driving Distance: Approx. 330 km

90% expressway (Kunming–Dali Highway/KunChuDa Highway, smooth and wide)
Remaining section is well-paved city road
Moderate traffic leaving Kunming; less busy further west
At 08:00 AM, depart from the hotel. If your temporary driving permit wasn’t processed on Day 1, we will assist you again at the Vehicle Management Office (about 1 hour).
After completing formalities, have lunch in Kunming featuring wild mushroom hotpot.
In the afternoon, set off for Dali along the G56 Hangrui Expressway. You will enjoy impressive mountain and valley scenery and make stops for photos and refreshments.

Upon arrival, check into the Manxin Hotel Dali. In the evening, explore Dali Ancient Town, stroll by Erhai Lake, and admire the night views.

 

🚗 Day 3: Dali –Shuanglang- Lijiang

Driving Distance: Approx. 180 km
Driving Time: About 3.5–4 hours total (excluding sightseeing stops)

After breakfast, visit Xiuzhou Ancient Town (喜洲古镇) to admire the elegant Bai-style courtyard houses like the Yan Family Courtyard and soak in the peaceful local atmosphere. Stroll along cobbled streets lined with ancient banyan trees and try the local specialties, such as Xiuzhou Baba (喜洲粑粑).

Next, continue to Zhoucheng Village (周城), famed for its Bai minority tie-dye handicrafts. You’ll have the chance to see artisans dyeing fabrics with natural indigo in centuries-old courtyards. You can shop for unique hand-made scarves, tablecloths, and decorative items.

After breakfast, you will drive from Lijiang Ancient Town to Pearl Lake (珍珠湖). Pearl Lake is a hidden gem nestled beneath Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. The lake’s emerald waters reflect snow peaks and surrounding forests, creating a tranquil, postcard-perfect scene. Here you can take photos, walk along the wooden walkways, or enjoy a peaceful moment by the shore.

Next, continue on to the Dongba Valley Scenic Area (东巴谷), where you can enjoy a short off-road driving experience along gravel and unpaved sections. The route winds through alpine meadows and sparse pine forests.

Afterwards, drive to Baisha Ancient Town (白沙古镇)—one of the earliest Naxi settlements and the cradle of the Dongba culture. Upon arrival, you’ll have time to:
Visit the Baisha Murals (白沙壁画), painted during the Ming Dynasty.
Rent and dress in Naxi or Tibetan-style costumes for photos.

🌄 Day 5: Lijiang –Tiger Leaping Gorge-Baishuitai- Shangri-La

After breakfast, set off from Lijiang towards Shangri-La, embarking on a day of spectacular scenery and cultural encounters.

On the way, you will first visit Upper, Middle, and Lower Tiger Leaping Gorge (上中下虎跳峡). Here, you can admire the roaring Jinsha River carving through one of the world’s deepest canyons. Take a boat tour at Middle Tiger Leaping Gorge to experience the dramatic cliffs and surging water up close.

Next, continue driving to Haba Village (哈巴村). Upon arrival, take a short rest and explore the village’s natural beauty, traditional wooden houses, and terraced fields. You will have lunch here, enjoying an organic free-range chicken hotpot, served in a restaurant offering panoramic views of Haba Snow Mountain (哈巴雪山).

After lunch, the journey continues towards Shangri-La. Along the route, you will pass Baishuitai (白水台), famous for its white calcium terraces known as the “Field of the Immortals.” You’ll also cross Washing Basin Pass (洗脸盆垭口) at an altitude of around 3,700 meters, where you can pause to take photos of the highland scenery.

Driving onwards, you will pass near Pudacuo National Park (普达措国家公园) before reaching the Tibetan Plateau.

After breakfast, drive to Songzanlin Viewpoint (松赞林观景台) to enjoy a panoramic view of Songzanlin Monastery (松赞林寺), often called the “Tibetan Potala Palace.”

Then, drive towards Benzilan Town (奔子栏镇), crossing the Jinsha River Bridge (金沙江大桥). Stop in Benzilan for lunch.After lunch, continue driving along the road that winds through Baima Snow Mountain (白马雪山). The route takes you from the Jinsha River (金沙江) to the Lancang River (澜沧江), crossing the Baima Snow Mountain Pass (白马雪山垭口).
After crossing the pass, arrive at Feilaisi (飞来寺) and enjoy a distant view of the majestic Meili Snow Mountain (梅里雪山).

Day 7: Feilaisi  – Mekong River – Biluo Snow Mountain – Bingzhongluo (丙中洛) – Gongshan – Fugong

Itinerary & Highlights:

Upon arrival in Dali, enjoy a special flower banquet lunch (鲜花宴) featuring local edible flower dishes.
After lunch, visit:
hree Pagodas of Chongsheng Temple (大理三塔): Iconic ancient Buddhist pagodas over 1,000 years old.
Dali Ancient Town (大理古城): Wander cobblestone streets, admire traditional Bai architecture, and shop for local handicrafts such as tie-dyed textiles and marble carvings.
Erhai Lake (洱海): Depending on time, take a leisurely lakeside stroll or stop at viewing platforms.
In the evening, enjoy a barbecue buffet dinner at Red Dragon Well (红龙井烧烤自助) to share your travel experiences with fellow travelers.

Day 11:Dali – Kunming

After breakfast, drive from Dali (大理) to Kunming via the Kunming–Chuxiong Expressway (昆楚高速公路).
Road Conditions: The expressway is modern and well-paved. Distance approx. 340 km (4.5–5 hrs). Mostly flat, some mountain sections. Service areas every 50–80 km. Traffic may be heavier on weekends and holidays.
Highlights: En route, stop in Nanhua County (南华县), known as China’s top wild mushroom region. Enjoy a wild mushroom hotpot lunch. From June–September, you may join mushroom picking during the Wild Mushroom Cultural Festival (菌子文化节).
After lunch, continue to Kunming. Upon arrival:

For those who enjoy driving, take a scenic ride around Dianchi Lake (滇池). Sunset over the water is spectacular.

Others can shop at Wanda Plaza (万达广场) or Ai Qin Hai Shopping Park (爱琴海购物公园) for Yunnan souvenirs like Pu’er tea (普洱茶) and flower cakes (鲜花饼).
Check in at Hilton Garden Inn Kunming (Hailor World Store) (昆明希尔顿花园酒店·海乐世界店). In the evening, gather for a farewell dinner to celebrate the journey and share wonderful memories.

The Flowers and Birds Market (昆明花鸟市场): Traditional market selling flowers, birds, antiques, and curios.
Jinma Biji Archway (金马碧鸡坊): Iconic twin archways symbolizing Kunming’s cultural heritage.
Dianchi Lake (滇池): The largest lake in Yunnan, known for beautiful waterfront scenery.
Yunnan Ethnic Villages (云南民族村): A cultural park showcasing the architecture and customs of Yunnan’s diverse ethnic groups.

In the afternoon or according to your flight schedule, we will arrange for you to be transferred to Kunming Changshui International Airport (昆明长水国际机场), concluding your delightful Yunnan self-driving tour.
