Bingzhongluo Overview

Bingzhongluo, which is called 'A Heaven of Peace and Happiness', is the most beautiful place in Nujiang Grand Canyon. Bingzhongluo Scenic Area is seen as the other “Shangri-La” in Yunnan province. When you walk on the Tea Horse Road of millennium, see the roaring Nujiang River running among the steep cliff and deep valley, splendid church and temple, tranquil villages, thick forest and towering snow mountain, you may lose yourself in the wonderful landscape.

2.Geography

Bingzhongluo represents the southernmost extent of the Tibetan culture, and the northernmost extent of Han Chinese influence in the valley. On the two sides of Nujiang River stand the Biluo Snow Mountain and Gaoligong Mountain, forming the typical canyon. The highest point is on the Gawa Gapu Snow Mountain, the lowest in Pengdang Township. Bingzhongluo is an excellent staging point for hikes west to the Dulong River, and east to the Mekong.

3.Climate

The climate in Bingzhongluo is warm and temperate. The summers here have a good deal of rainfall, while the winters have very little. This location is classified as Cwa by Köppen and Geiger. The average annual temperature is 16.0 °C in Bingzhongluo. About 1486 mm of precipitation falls annually.

4.Transportation

The transportation in bingzhongluo is not that convenient but interesting, visitors can take bus or trucks getting to or away in Bingzhongluo.

There is no luxury or star hotel, but the featured guest houses and local residential houses for you. Travelers can make friends from home and abroad.

6.Attraction

The most beautiful part of Nujiang Gorge starts from Binzhongluo. Bingzhongluo is another one-street town. It has a strong Tibetan flavor as most of the inhabitants around it are Tibetans and Nus and it is very close to Tibet itself. Immediately outside the main street to the east, small plots of farms spread out in terraces towards the river. There are more farms (mainly wheat) across the river on a beautiful peninsula jutting into the river- the Plum “Island”.  It covers the miracle of nature and civilization.
