Dulongjiang Overview
Introduction
Dulongjiang is known as the last uncharted and best-kept place in southwest of China because of the unique environment and location. Due to the heavy snowfall,transport to the valley is blocked for more than six months each year. Dulongjiang area is isolated from the outside world, therefore, it is protected well. It is the treasure house of gene. The Dulongjiang Valley is where the 3 ethnic minorities - Dulong(Drung), Nu, Lisu, inhabit for ages. It lures adventurous travelers with its isolated natural beauty, original ethnic cultures and a mystical facial tattoo tradition. It's definitely an exciting adventure to trek into this isolated and mysterious valley. The destination doesn't offer much more comfort than the trial.

History
In West Han Dynasty, Gongshan was under the administration of Yuesui Prefecture. Gongshan was a part of Xuanfu Office of Lijiang in Yuan Dynasty, Weixi Office in Qing Dynasty. On 8th April, 1950, Gongshan County government was established. It was changed into Gongshan Dulong and Nu Autonomous County in October, 1956.
Climate
The climate in Dulong is warm and temperate. There is significant rainfall throughout the year in Dulong. Even the driest month still has a lot of rainfall. This climate is considered to be Cfa according to the Köppen-Geiger climate classification. The average annual temperature in Dulong is 17.4 °C. The rainfall here averages 1521 mm.
Geography
The Dulong River is a first-class tributary of the Irrawaddy River, crossing China and Myanmar and joining into the Irrawaddy River in Myanmar.
Dulongjiang, also Dulong River , originates from Tibet, flowing through the northwest corner of Yunnan then into Burma. Its Yunnan section is about 80km long, sandwiched by Mt. Dandanglika on the west and Mt. Gaoligong on the east. Amongst the lofty mountains bordering Tibet and Yunnan is the Dulong River Valley, at the west slope of the north part of the Gaoligong.
Transportation
Due to the heavy snowfall, transport to the valley is blocked for more than six months each year. The severe environment makes the road blocked. It is not so easy to get in Dulongjiang, but it has been improved since Dulongjiang tunnel has been finished.

Local culture represents the diversity of ethnic culture. In Dulongjiang, sacrificing an ox of Dulong people are the most remarkable. Dulong, the smallest ethnic groups in China. They wear a cape of black and white striped linen.
