Hekou County Transportation
Hekou County faces Lao Cai across the river, it is one of the important border trade counties in Yunnan. There are expressway and Yunnan-Vietnam railway connecting Kunming and Hanoi(the capital of Vietnam). Hekou County is 200 kilometers away from Mengzi, 400 kilometers away from Kunming. It is the terminal of Kunhe(Kunming-Hanoi) railway and highway, is the only way of Yunnan-Vietnam railway and the only international railway from Yunnan to southeastern countries.
How to Get in & away Hekou County
There are two main modes of transportation to Hekou County, long-distance bus and train.
1. By Long-distance Bus
Starting from Kunming, it is 400 kilometers from Kunming to Hekou County, and it takes about 5 hours by long-distance bus.

2. By Train
Departing from Kunming Station, it takes about 7 hours to Hekou County by nonstop train. There are 5 nonstop trains from Kunming to Hekou, from 08: 19 to 22: 55. Ticket price is 54.5 yuan each person. If you transfer in Yuxi, Jianshui or Mengzi, you will spend more time and money.

3. By Air
Mengzi Airport, Yuanyang Airport and Mile Airport are under plan and construction. Tourists can fly to Wenshan(文山) first, then transfer to Hekou County by long-distance bus or train. The distance between wenshan and Hekou county is about 255 kilometers, it takes around 3 hours. Taking long-distance bus spends less time than train.
How to Get around Hekou County
1. By Taxi
Taxis can be found everywhere in Hekou county. For people who want to get to their destination as quickly as possible, taxi is wise choice. Generally, the starting fare is 5 yuan, and 1.4 yuan will be charged for each kilometer.
2. By Bus
In the county seat, buses run on the main street, it will not take you much time on the bus, because the county seat area is not big. The fare is usually 1 yuan.
3. By Minibus
Minibus is the principle way for local people to travel a short distance. Passengers may wait for a minibus on the highway or just call the driver. Usually, the minibus will take you anywhere you want to go in a short distance, and the price is cheap.
