Locted in the south of Honghe Prefecture, Jinping County borders Lvchun County to the west, Yuanyang County to the north, Laocai and Lai-chau of Vietnam to the south; neighbors Gejiu and Mengzi across the Honghe River in the north; And faces Hekou County across the Honghe River in the east. Jinping Miao, Yao and Dai Autonomous County covers an area of 3677 square kilometers, its county seat is 477 kilometers from Kunming, 135 kilometers from Mengzi. National open port, Jinshuihe port, is 18 kilometers from Fengtu County of Vietnam, 56 kilometers from Santang City of Lai Chau and 195 kilometers from Dien Bien Phu in the north Vietnam, 580 kilometers from Hanoi, 231 kilometers from Bombay County of Laos. Its boundaryline is 502 kilometers, ranking second in Yunnan province. History

Jinping County has a very long history. We will list a part of its history.

Before 111 BC, our today's Jinping County was the dependency of Mengdaguang(勐达光)/Ailao Kingdom. In Nanzhao Kingdom, it was under the administration of Tonghai military prefecture. In Dali Kingdom, it belonged to Xiushan prefecture. In 1950, it belonged to Mengzi prefecture. In January 1954, Honghe Hani Autonomous Prefecture established, and Jinping county delimited into this autonomous prefecture. In November 18th, 1957, Honghe Hani and Yi Autonomous Prefecture was founded, Jinping County was under the jurisdiction of it. In June 11st, 1985, Jinping County was revoked, and Jinping Miao, Yao and Dai Autonomous County was set up.
