History
In Tang Dynasty, Qiubei is under the administration of Langzhou Prefecture; In Dali Kingdom of Song Dynasty, it is a part of Weimo Prefecture. In the eighth year of Kangxi period(1669), Qiubei County is a part of Shizong Prefecture. In 1958,Wenshan Zhuang and Miao Autonomous Prefecture was established. Wenshan has jurisdiction over Qiubei County.
Climate
Because it is located in the low latitude monsoon region, Qiubei belongs to the middle subtropical plateau monsoon climate. There are four climatic types: the subtropical, the middle subtropical, the north subtropical and the south temperate zones. The annual average temperature is 13.2-19.7 degrees C, and the annual average rainfall is 1000-1270 mm. It has clear dry and humid seasons. May to October is the rainy season gathering over eighty percent of wenshan's rainfall throughout the year. Most of the region has a favorable climate without winter chilliness and summer heat.
Geography
Qiubei is located in the highland area of karst mountain in Southeast Yunnan, high in the southwest and low in the northeast. Nanpan River, Liulangdong River, Kuamo River are the main rivers in Qiubei, belonging to the Lujiang Branch of Honghe River.

Transportation
In Qiubei county you can choose airplane, high-speed rail or highways. Highways are the major means of transportation in Qiubei Region, with Qiubei County as the transportation center. Qiubei Passage Bus station (丘北客运站). Every day there are buses going to all parts of Qiubei Region to Wenshan, Milei, Puzhehei(普者黑) , and Luoping so on Region. If you take Volvo to Kunming, that will cost you 290 yuan per person; if it is Eveko, that is 62 yuan per person. There are every day buses going to Yanshan, Guangnan and other parts in the Wenshan Region, but no buses going out of the Region. Almost all buses of the two Passenger Transportation Stations are installed with air-conditioners, and are in good condition.
