Visitor Center

The Visitor Center is located at the entrance of the park. It is the first stop for visitors to purchase tickets and board the eco-friendly sightseeing buses to various attractions within the park.

Shudu Lake (属都湖)

Shudu Lake is the first major attraction within the park, located approximately 13 kilometers from the Visitor Center. The lake is situated at an altitude of about 3,705 meters, with an area of around 15 square kilometers. A 3.3-kilometer wooden boardwalk runs along the lakeshore, allowing visitors to enjoy the scenic views of the lake and its surrounding mountains.

Militang Pasture (弥里塘草原)

Militang Pasture is situated between Shudu Lake and Bita Lake, at an altitude of about 3,700 meters. The pasture is named for its shape, which resembles a Buddha’s eye, and is one of the important grazing areas in Shangri-La. Visitors can admire the vast grassland scenery and herds of yaks from the viewing platform.

Bita Lake (碧塔海)

Bita Lake is the second major attraction within the park, located about 10 kilometers from Shudu Lake. The lake is at an altitude of approximately 3,530 meters, with an average depth of 20 meters. A wooden boardwalk runs along the lakeshore, and visitors can also take a boat ride to the small island in the lake (for an additional fee of 50 RMB).

Recommended Itinerary

  • First Stop (Shudu Lake): Take the sightseeing bus from the Visitor Center to Shudu Lake. After arriving, visitors can stroll along the lakeshore boardwalk to enjoy the beautiful scenery. The entire visit typically takes 1-2 hours.
  • Second Stop (Militang Pasture): Take the sightseeing bus to Militang Pasture, where visitors can enjoy the panoramic views of the grassland from the viewing platform. However, visitors are not allowed to approach the livestock closely.
  • Third Stop (Bita Lake): Upon arrival at Bita Lake, visitors can choose to take a boat ride to the island in the lake (for an additional fee of 50 RMB) or walk along the lakeshore boardwalk. The entire visit typically takes 1-2 hours.

Ticket Information

  • Ticket Price: 258 RMB (including 138 RMB for the entrance ticket and 120 RMB for the sightseeing bus fee).
  • Opening Hours: From April to October, 08:00-17:00; from November to March of the following year, 08:00-16:00.

Transportation Information

  • Bus: There are regular buses from Shangri-La Bus Station to Pudacuo National Park. Departure times are 08:00, 08:30, 09:30, and 10:00. Return times are 14:00, 14:30, 15:00, and 16:30.
  • Taxi: A one-way trip from Shangri-La County costs approximately 80 RMB, while a round trip costs about 150 RMB. The journey takes about 40 minutes.
