Baifangzi Mosque in Gejiu City, Honghe

Baifangzi Mosque (白房子清真寺) is located in Xinshadian Township (新沙甸乡), Gejiu City (个旧市), Yunnan Province (云南省). It was originally built in 1980 and occupies an area of 4.5 mu. The mosque’s main gate features imposing double eaves and bucket arches, while the minaret is a three-tiered spire with soaring cornices, covered in blue glazed tiles that shine brilliantly in the sunlight. The prayer hall is an antique-style structure with a floor area of 250 square meters. The entire mosque complex is harmonious in style, with a refined, solemn, and well-ordered layout.

Religious Leadership and Community

The mosque currently has 20 Ahong (阿旬), 40 Mullahs (满拉), and 10 Islamic school directors (学董). It serves a religious community of 450 households, totaling over 2,000 Hui (回族) residents. Notable Hajjis from this mosque include Li Shufang (李树方), Ma Mingxue (马明学), Li Huirong (李会荣), Wang Zhaoyun (王召云), Wang Zhaozhen (王朝真), Wang Yu (王玉), Lin Caiquan (林采全), Lin Guolin (林果林), Wang Gang (王纲), Ma Jinhuang (马金黄), Wang Bifang (王毕芳), and Wang Fengying (王凤英). During the construction of the minaret, community member Ma Mingzhou (马明州) donated 30,000 yuan, and Hajji Wang Yu (王玉) contributed 10,000 yuan.

The blue glazed tiles that cover the structure shimmer under sunlight. The prayer hall, built in an ancient architectural style, covers 250 square meters. The architecture of the entire complex is unified, dignified, and arranged with meticulous precision.
