4 Days Gaoli Gongshan Mountain Birding Tour in Yunnan

This is my first time watching birds out of the province since I enrolled the Birdnet.cn in October of 2011. My wife seems unhappy for spending our Spring Festival holiday in this mountainous area. But “I am the husband, I am the boss”. Unhappiness doesn`t work, haha……

In the first day, we set off from Guangzhou at 7:50 am in the morning of Jan. 27^th of 2012, stopped in Kunming, and arrived in Baoshan at 12:00. We have contacted Mr. Hou, the stationmaster of Baihua Mountain Range, in advance to ask the driver Mr. Chen to pick up us. Mr. Chen and his daughter are very enthusiastic and open-minded. We had a happy talk during the way to our destination from the airport. They told us many local culture and geography and showed us the Nujiang river estuary where the Red Army of China has crossed in that year. Mr. Chen also specially bought us a bag of green dates and we arrived in Mr. Hou`s home around 3:00 pm in Baihua Mountain Range. (Please contact driver Mr. Chen if a car is needed, Tel: 13987536399.)

The warning slogan“The Home of Bears, Caution Please!” is really ridiculous because it doesn`t tell what we should do when we really meet a bear. But the truth is we should set a slogan “The Home of People, Caution Please!” to the bears, haha….

In the second day, we got up at 5:00 am. Mr. Hou (Tel: 13577552830) asked the tour guide Mr. Duan brought brother Deng from Sichuan province, his families and us to the Second Platform and the Big Platform on foot. We saw a lot of birds on the way, but failed to photograph one of our targets Rosefinches.

第三天又是5点起床， 目标旧街子 暖暖的阳光刚刚升起一群褐胁雀鹛吱吱嚓嚓的从树丛里出来，哈哈……早起的鸟儿有虫吃                 第四天还是5点起床，哈哈。。。有点象军训喔！今天和北京鸟友于兄等人徒步温泉观鸟。温泉这条路线绝对是一条最佳的观鸟路线，这里树林浓密，鸟语花香，如同仙境。
