Location and Overview
Tengchong Cherry Blossom Valley is located in the northern part of Tengchong City, Yunnan Province, on the western slope of Gaoligong Mountain and the west bank of the Longchuan River. It falls within the Gaoligong Mountain Nature Reserve. The valley is about 25 kilometers from Tengchong County, with an elevation ranging from 1,450 to 1,850 meters. The area enjoys a frost-free, snow-free climate year-round, with an average annual temperature of approximately 16°C and abundant rainfall. The valley is named “Cherry Blossom Valley” due to the widespread presence of wild cherry blossoms on its slopes. The landscape features a typical alpine gorge terrain, with an elevation drop of nearly 400 meters from the mountain gate to the valley floor. The region showcases the unique beauty of experiencing “four seasons in one mountain.”
Natural Scenery and Flora and Fauna
Cherry Blossom Valley is home to subtropical broadleaf primary forests, natural hot springs, waterfalls, streams, and unique geological and geomorphological landscapes. The well-preserved primary forest is lush with pine and cypress trees, ancient trees reaching up to the sky, and vibrant with the sounds of birds and the fragrance of flowers. Over 260 species of rare plants thrive in the valley, including the Alsophila, a national first-class protected plant that dates back to the time of the dinosaurs. Additionally, the valley is inhabited by over 100 species of nationally protected animals, with the Yunnan snub-nosed monkey being one of the valley’s treasures.
Hot Springs and Other Facilities
Cherry Blossom Valley contains four forest hot springs, two of which are developed and open to visitors: “Fenglu Pool” and “Yunbi Spring.” These hot springs boast excellent water quality, with water temperatures around 42°C. The crystal-clear waters offer a natural setting for relaxation.
