How to Get to Jade Dragon Snow Mountain from Tiger Leaping Gorge
The dangerous Tiger Leaping Gorge is the deepest canyon in China. It is divided into two sections, Lijiang and Shangri-La. The Shangri-La section is a 4A national scenic spot, which include high, middle, low and hiking route. The Tiger Leaping Gorge is located within the jurisdiction of Shangri-La City, which is 96 kilometers from the city center, 80 kilometers from Lijiang City, and around 550 kilometers from Kunming.
Lijiang Jade Dragon Snow Mountain Scenic Area is a 5A national scenic spot approved by the National Tourism Administration. It is located within the jurisdiction of Yulong Naxi Autonomous County, and it’s also located at the southernmost point of the Northern Hemisphere. It stretches 35 kilometers from south to north, 13 kilometers from east to west, which covers an area of 960 square kilometers. Its main peak, Shan Zidou, has an altitude of 5,596 meters. Its name, refers to “Silver Mountain Stone” in local native language, and its snow-covered 13 mountains, looks like a flying dragon.
How to Get to Jade Dragon Snow Mountain from Tiger Leaping Gorge
As the distance between these two scenic areas is relatively short (around 100 kilometers), and there’s no direct train available, we recommend you to take local taxi or coach. However, it is very important for you to reach a deal with the driver before departure.
