How to Get to Simao District (Puer) from Kunming

Being around 450 kilometers from Kunming（昆明）, the Si’mao District (Pu’er) (思茅区-普洱）covers a total area of 3,928 square kilometers, which is located in southern Yun’nan, mid-southern region of Pu’er City（普洱市）, mid-lower reaches of Lan Can’jiang River（澜沧江）. It borders on Jiang’cheng County（江城县） in the east, Lan’cang County（澜沧县） and Jing’gu Dai and Yi Autonomous County（景谷傣族彝族自治县） in the west, Xi’shuang’ban’na Dai Autonomous Prefecture（ 西双版纳傣族自治州）in the south, Ning’er County（宁洱县） in the north. Si’mao District (Pu’er) (思茅区-普洱）is deemed as the starting point of the historical Tea Horse Road-Southern Silk Road, which was one of the three major customs of Yun’nan Province. It was also called “The Land Port of Southeast Asia,” and “The Silver Si’mao.”
