Islamic Town, 5 km from Ludian county seat of Zhaotong City, was opened on 16 April, attracting numerous visitors. It features Islamic architecture and Chinese gardening, while highlighting the Hui ethnic culture; and it is one of the characteristic tourist sites in northeast Yunnan. Covering an area of 334 mu, Islamic Town combines the unique natural environment with the culture of Hui ethnic people. “one axis and five area” is the overall layout of the Islamic Town. The central axis length is 1000 meters. Except for the square at the entrance, there are religious culture exhibition area, demonstration area, waterplay areas and shopping area in north-south distribution.
Islam is the second largest religion in the world after Christianity, with about 1.8 billion Muslims worldwide. Muslims worship one, all-knowing God, who in Arabic is known as Allah. Followers of Islam aim to live a life of complete submission to Allah. They believe that nothing can happen without Allah’s permission, but humans have free will. By Friday, believers go to the mosque for worship, and everyone must take a bath before the worship.
