Jianshui Purple Pottery

The history of Jianshui Purple Pottery, which is also known as Southern Yunnan Red Jade, goes back to 900 years ago. It is made from purple clay mixed by red, yellow, black, white and purple mud, and goes through molding, drawing, carving, modifying, kilning and polishing; many of them are made in family-scale workshops in Jianshui County, southern Yunnan province. With pleasing luster, refined texture and melodious sound, Jianshuipottery is also used in a variety of crafts like basins, bottles, tea sets, pen-containers and pots.
