Liuhe Township (六河乡) is located in the northeast of Malipo County (麻栗坡县), Wenshan Zhuang and Miao Autonomous Prefecture (文山壮族苗族自治州), Yunnan Province (云南省). It borders Yangwan Township (杨万乡) to the east, Babu Township (八布乡) to the south, Fadou (法斗) and Dongma (董马) townships of Xichou County (西畴县) to the west, and Tiezhuang Township (铁厂乡) to the north. The township government is based in Liuhe Village (六河村), which is 69 kilometers from the county seat of Malipo County (麻栗坡县).

History and Culture

The history of Liuhe Township (六河乡) dates back to the second year of the Xuantong reign of the Qing Dynasty (1910), when the Lu (陆) family established a marketplace called “Liuhe Street” (六合街). Later, the name was changed to “Liuhe” (六河) due to the presence of six nearby streams. After the founding of the People’s Republic of China, the administrative divisions were adjusted several times: Liuhe Township (六河乡) was established in 1950, changed to a commune in 1963, and officially restored as a township in 1988.
