Xiaoyuan Longtoushan Mosque(桃源龙头山清真寺) is one of the ancient mosques in Yunnan Province, initially constructed in the 11th year of Qing Emperor Qianlong’s reign in 1746 AD. With a building area of 2,360 square meters, it has a rich history spanning 260 years. The mosque is located in Taoyuan Hui Ethnic Township, Ludian County, Yunnan Province, situated on a small hill in the middle of Taoyuan Basin, approximately 7.5 kilometers from the county town.

Historical Background

Founded in 1746 AD during the Qing Emperor Qianlong’s reign, Xiaoyuan Longtoushan Mosque was designated as a renowned religious site and a provincial-level cultural heritage protection unit in 2006 by the Zhaotong Municipal Committee and the Zhaotong Municipal People’s Government.

Xiaoyuan Longtoushan Mosque covers an area of 2,360 square meters. It features solemn prayer halls, a tall and majestic minaret, spacious teaching facilities, and various auxiliary buildings. The mosque is surrounded by gardens and courtyards, including educational buildings rising up to 30 meters high. With over 151 rooms, two small courtyards, one large courtyard, a parking lot, and a basketball court spread across 4,000 square meters, the mosque is enclosed by a surrounding wall, with local Hui ethnic houses outside.
