
Manfeilong Reservior in Jinghong City, XishuangBanna
Manfeilong Reservoir (曼飞龙水库) is located in Manfeilong Village (曼飞龙村), Menglong Town (勐龙镇), Jinghong City (景洪市), Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture (西双版纳州), Yunnan Province (云南省). It is a water conservancy project primarily serving flood control and water supply purposes. Construction began in September 1958 and was completed in 1967. The dam is 21.5 meters high, with a total storage capacity of 15 million cubic meters, and plays a key role in ensuring the flood safety of critical facilities such as Jinghong International Airport (景洪国际机场) and National Highway 214 (214国道).
The reservoir management office is a fully funded public institution, with its 2024 budget covering responsibilities such as water environment management and flood safety.
Renovation and Safety Upgrades
In 2005, Manfeilong Reservoir was classified as a dangerous reservoir. In May 2007, reinforcement works began, and by January 2009, the main dam structure was completed, eliminating seepage risks. The project had a total investment of 26.4969 million yuan.
Tourism Development
The reservoir area offers leisure activities such as boating, fishing, and dragon boat races, with supporting facilities including yachts, bamboo rafts, night light shows, and bonfire parties. Surrounding areas feature high-end homestays such as Bodhi Pasha · Shanyuan (菩提帕莎·山院).
Resettlement and Community Development
In 2006, Manlongmai Village (曼龙迈村) was designated as a reservoir resettlement village. A total of 8.4 million yuan was invested in road paving and industrial support projects such as konjac cultivation. In 2023, a “Beautiful Homeland · New Resettlement Village” project was launched, with a total investment of 59.7842 million yuan for integrated development.
