Ninong Village in Deqin County, Diqing
Attraction Overview
Ninong Village is the last stop of Yubeng Village hiking from Yubeng village to Ninong Grand Gorge. It is close to the Lancang river, where you can enjoy the spectacular scenery of the Meili Grand Canyon of the Lancang river.
Attraction Type: Traditional Village
Chinese Name: 尼农村
Altitude: 1980 m
Ninong Village (尼农村) is one of the most talked-about yet often just “passed-through” Tibetan natural villages deep in the heart of the Meili Snow Mountain (梅里雪山). It’s not really the destination itself but the “exit point” for the classic Yubeng (雨崩) trekking loop — descending from Yubeng Lower Village (雨崩下村) through the Ninong Gorge (尼农峡谷) down to the Lancang River (澜沧江) banks, where Ninong Village awaits.
Here, the altitude drops sharply by 1,000 meters, compressing in one line spectacular views of snow-capped peaks, pristine forests, deep gorges, and dry-hot river valleys. Trekkers call it “a single trail to see the layered landscapes of Northwest Yunnan” 🌄.
