About Sangushui Scenic Area
Lijiang Sangushui（三股水） Scenic Area is located on the northeast side the mountainside, Hongwen village, Yulong Naxi Autonomous County, Lijiang City. Lijiang Sangushui（三股水） Scenic Area, Maojindi(冒金地) scenic spot enjoys natural landscapes such as landscape, canyons, pastoral scenery and the tea horse street, Naxi village, Naxi culture, and cultural landscapes in the integration. It is the fork road for tea and horse and other goods transported to Tibet and to Lijiang in the ancient times. Sangushui（三股水） Maojindi(冒金地) scenic spot is the important hub in the ancient tea horse road with natural and simple customs, mountains and rivers, and beautiful environment.
For thousands of years, dozens of simple Naxi people living here. The caravans of Tibetan, Naxi, Bai, Han and other ethnic groups continuously travel across here and hence to get accommodation and supplementary for both people and horses. They get on well with each other, help each other, regard the virtues as life, and see virtues as the soul of business. The ancient tea horse road here has been operated for thousands of years, so people call it “the golden land”(Maojindi冒金地), and hence the village was called “Deshengzhuang”.

Sangushui（三股水） Maojindi(冒金地) scenic spots are built on the slope, which combines the local color, the original ecological flavor, and the multi-ethnic culture. As for the attractions in Maojindi, tourists can see: products showcase of the Tea Horse Road – Virtues Springs – Wanfu Wanshou tablet -the Tibetan mastiff Yard-Lijiang Dongba School – the sightseeing station of Yangtze River Bay- the cultural corridor of Ancient Tea Horse Road-garden terrace – local downtown – stone pavilion.
The ancient tea horse cultural corridor, the tea and horse trade, and the tea horse road show the environment, life and learning style of the horse caravan. At the same time, visitors can appreciate this magical ancient culture.
Travelers here can push the stone mill, step on the wooden pier, touch the fermented wine trough, walk around the pot and stove, imagining and experiencing how people used to grind, tamper with rice, make wine, make tofu and so on. On the grain shelf is the special local product “ah hi pepper”, which is the best product for friends and relatives in faraway places.
The highest point of Sangushui is the “viewing platform”. Here visitors can see the blue sky, the majestic Haba Snow Mountains and Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, and the Tiger Leaping Gorge.
In Sangushui scenic spot, tourists can ride rubber boat to experience Jinsha river drift, challenge the high-altitude glass walkway, and walk along the legendary horse caravan road. What’s more, taveling here, people can enjoy Naxi special buffet barbecue, and dance with Naxi nationality.
Walk to “De shengzhuang”, you can see the idyllic scenery which is beautiful more than a dreamland. The falls in the forest, gushes all along the mountain. Except the blue sky and white clouds, there are also breathtaking layered terraces.
How to get to the Sangushui Scenic Area from Lijiang
Sanshui Water is located in Longtan Township, Yulong County, Lijiang City. Take the Lijiang-Shangri-La shuttle bus at Lijiang Bus Terminal (40 minutes a day). After 20 minutes, the bus will take you to the Yangtze River First Bay and walk 10 minutes to Lijiang Sangushui Scenic area.
Attractions Near Sangushui Scenic Area
The Baisha Ancient Village is one of the oldest towns in Lijiang City. It got its name “Baisha” meaning “white sand” from the natural white sand in the area. It was the cradle-land of the Tusi Dynasty evolved from the Mu Clan. It was also the earliest settlement of the Naxi people. There are many ancient constructions built in the Ming Dynasty: the Dabaoji Palace, the Liuli Temple and the Wenchang Palace. The well-known Baisha Frescoes are situated in the Dabaoji Palace.
Lijiang Jade Dragon Snow Mountain Golf Course
Jade Dragon Snow Mountain Golf Club is one of the icons of China golf. This Kunming golf course is set in the bottom of a valley that faces the famous Jade Dragon Snow Mountain that is 5596 meters (18,360 ft.) high. You can enjoy mountain views from almost every place on this Kunming golf course. Jade Dragon Snow Mountain Golf Club is situated at 3100 meters (10,800 ft.) above see level, the second highest in the world and the highest in Asia.
Jade Water Village or Yushuizhai in Lijiang
Yushuizhai is under the foot of the Yulong Snow Mountain, facing the ancient city of Lijiang, which is only 15 kilometers from the city. The sacred water out of the Yushui Village brings up a generation after generation, giving them courage, wisdom and happiness.
Black Dragon Pool (also Heilongtan), or Jade Spring(Yuquan) Park is the main headwater of the Yushui River which goes through the Old Town. People believe that the gods of the Naxi people are living in the chestnut woods, beside the mouth of springs, behind the carved doors and below the bridges. The springs come from the god-protected mountains and gather in this place and finally form the dragon pool. Then water goes down a waterfall and becomes the Yuhe River, pouring life to the Old Town.
A trekking route leads to the amazing Dongba Valley. It is located at the foot of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain and 15 kilometers away from Lijiang Old Town. The Dongba Valley is home and livelihood of Naxi people. Traditional houses of Naxi and other peoples are open to visit.

Attraction Transportation:Because there is no public bus, tourists need to charter a taxi / car/ mini-van or carpool together from the downtown area. The distance is around 10 miles (15 kilometers). It takes around 40 minutes. The round-trip charter rate is around CNY 200.
