Peach blossoms Festival and Wulongtan Village of Tuguan Town in Lufeng County, Chuxiong

Introduction

Wulongtan Village in Tuguan Town, Lufeng County, has been recognized as one of the first model villages for livability, business, and beauty by the Yunnan Provincial Department of Rural Revitalization, Natural Resources, Housing and Urban-Rural Development, and Culture and Tourism. It is situated in the southeastern part of Lufeng, southwest of Tuguan, approximately 74 kilometers from Kunming, 109 kilometers from Chuxiong, 32 kilometers from Lufeng, and 11 kilometers from Tuguan. The village covers an area of about 2.8 square kilometers with an altitude of 1980 meters. It enjoys a subtropical monsoon climate with excellent sunlight conditions, averaging 2555 hours of sunshine annually. The average annual temperature is 16.5 degrees Celsius, with minimal daily temperature variations. Annual average rainfall ranges from 800 to 950 millimeters, and the forest coverage rate is 82%. In December 2021, Wulongtan was designated as a national AAAA-level scenic area.

Tourism Development

Wulongtan leverages its strategic location as the gateway to western Yunnan and the backyard of Kunming, benefiting from its successful hosting of the Peach Blossom Culture Tourism Festival for six editions in Tuguan Town. The village primarily focuses on developing rural eco-cultural tourism, radiating to attractions such as Wenshuitang Cave Hot Springs, Qincetang Village, and Yuwanshui Village. It has robustly developed “farmhouse inns” and “ecological farms” integrating leisure tourism and resort entertainment. Wulongtan Village is renowned for its extensive cultivation of high-quality peaches, covering approximately 10,000 mu. It has established tourism formats rich in peach cultural connotations, offering activities such as peach blossom viewing from March to April, peach picking from May to October, year-round fishing, enjoying farmhouse cuisine, and soaking in hot springs.
