Xiaruo Lisu Autonomous Township(霞若傈僳族乡) is located in the southeast of Deqin County, Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province. It is bordered by Benzi Lan Town to the north, connected to Tuoding Township to the east, adjacent to Yanmen Township and Weixi County to the west, and faces Shangri-La City across the Jinsha River to the east. The township covers an area of 1589.11 square kilometers. The terrain is divided into river valley terraces and mountainous areas, with the Zhu Ba Long River flowing from north to south and the Shi Ba River and Ge Mo Rong River flowing from west to east, forming a narrow and deep valley terrain. The average altitude is 2362.6 meters.

History

Historically, Xiaruo Township belonged to the jurisdiction of the Benzi Lan Shi Yi Wang’s “Shen Weng” area. In 1959, the township was established as Xiaruo District. In 1962, it was renamed Xiaruo Commune, and in 1967, it was changed back to a district. In 1987, the district was abolished, and Xiaruo Lisu Autonomous Township was established.

Xiaruo Township is a multi-ethnic settlement, predominantly inhabited by Lisu and Tibetan people, with a minority of Naxi, Han, and other ethnic groups.
