Yiliang Cherry Blossom Cultural Tourism Festival in Kunming
On March 6, 2024, the “Colorful Dreamland: Kunming Yiliang Cherry Blossom Cultural Tourism Festival昆明宜良樱花文化旅游节” opened in Yiliang Cherry Blossom Valley, themed “Blossoms in Yiliang, Beautiful with You.” This event utilizes cherry blossoms as a means to connect people and foster friendships while enhancing Yiliang’s cultural tourism profile, promoting the integration of agriculture and tourism, and supporting rural revitalization.
Cherry Blossom Valley Highlights
The Cherry Blossom Valley spans thousands of acres filled with cherry trees in full bloom, with gentle breezes causing petals to fall gracefully, creating a breathtaking spectacle. Visitors can enjoy not only the stunning cherry blossoms but also local delicacies such as beef soup pot, cold rice noodles, fried potatoes, grilled tofu, and cherry blossom ice cream.
The opening ceremony featured a vibrant array of cultural performances and included the “Blossom You Come” marathon event, where over 200 running enthusiasts traversed the flower fields, showcasing their energy and passion.
About Yiliang Cherry Blossom Valley
Located in the Shanhou community of Kuangyuan Street, Yiliang County, the Cherry Blossom Valley is just 9 kilometers from the county seat. Covering more than 4,000 acres, it boasts over 60 cherry blossom varieties with more than 370,000 trees, featuring single, semi-double, and double petals in a rich palette of colors, including white, pink, rose, light green, and gradient shades. The cherry blossoms bloom sequentially from late December to late April, providing a flowering period of up to four months. As the largest cherry blossom cultivation base in Yunnan Province, the valley serves as a comprehensive tourism and leisure resort for cherry blossom cultivation, sales, research, and appreciation. The cherry blossoms have also become a “flower of happiness,” significantly contributing to local villagers’ wealth and income.
