Yongchun Town of Weixi County, Diqing

Yongchun Township(永春乡)is located in the southeastern part of Weixi Lisu Autonomous County, Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province. It lies between 99°10′ and 99°30′ east longitude and 26°53′ and 27°19′ north latitude. The township borders Ludian Township of Lijiang County to the east, Hepu Township of Lanping County to the south, and is adjacent to Weiding Township and Zhonglu Township to the west. The total area of Yongchun Township is 649.4 square kilometers. The terrain is characterized by high mountains and deep valleys, with the highest altitude reaching 3630 meters and the lowest 2040 meters.

History

During the Qing Dynasty, Yongchun Township was mainly under the jurisdiction of the Lincheng Tu Baozong Wang family. In the Republic of China period, it was once established as Chengyong (or Yong’an) District, Hua Pu District, and also referred to as the First District. After the founding of the People’s Republic of China, it was commonly called the First District, and during the commune period, Yongchun Commune and Tuozhi Commune were established. From 1958 to 1975, the territory underwent several significant changes. In 1988, Yongchun Township was officially established.

Yongchun Township is a multi-ethnic settlement, home to various ethnic groups including Lisu, Naxi, Bai, Yi, Pumi, Hui, and Han. The township is known for its rich ethnic cultures and traditional customs.
