Zhonglu Town of Weixi County, Diqing

Zhonglu Township is located in the southwestern part of Weixi Lisu Autonomous County, Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province. It is bordered by Yongchun Township to the east, Weiding Township to the south, Lishadi Township of Nujiang Lisu Autonomous Prefecture to the west, and Baijixiang Township to the north. The township covers an area of 311.9 square kilometers. The terrain is characterized by high mountains and deep valleys, with the Lancang River running through the township from north to south. The highest point in the township has an altitude of 4700 meters, and the lowest point is at 1640 meters.

History

Zhonglu Township has a long history. In the early years of the People’s Republic of China, the area was divided into districts, and Zhonglu was established as a commune, which was later revoked in 1962. In 1975, Zhonglu was re-established as a commune. In 1984, the commune was reformed into a district. In 1988, the district was abolished, and Zhonglu Township was established.

Zhonglu Township is a multi-ethnic settlement, home to various ethnic groups including Lisu, Naxi, Bai, Yi, Nu, and Han. The township is known for its rich ethnic cultures and traditional customs.
