2013 China-South Asia Exposition

Background

With the approval of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China, the China-South Asia Expo is co-sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce and the People’s Government of Yunnan Province of China, and the competent commercial authorities of South Asian countries are invited to co-sponsor it.

The China-South Asia Exposition originated from the South Asian Trade Exposition held for five consecutive years. After several years of cultivation and development, the trade fairs of South Asian countries have been expanding, playing an important role in promoting economic and trade exchanges between China and South Asian countries.

In order to adapt to the changing situation and promote win-win cooperation, the South Asian Trade Fair has been upgraded to China-South Asia Fair with the approval of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China in October 2012. Since 2013, it has been held annually in Kunming, China.

The first China-South Asia Expo was held from June 6 to 10, 2013, in conjunction with the 21st China Kunming Import and Export Commodity Fair. The purpose and theme of the first China-South Asia Expo is to promote China-South Asia cooperation and development in an all-round way and achieve open and shared, pragmatic cooperation, mutual benefit, win-win and harmonious development. China-South Asia Expo is expected to develop into a display platform for commodity trading, service trade, investment partnership, tourism cooperation and cultural exchange, a high-end comprehensive exhibition, a win-win bridge for cooperation between China and other countries, and to provide a platform for China and South Asian countries to expand economic and trade exchanges with other countries and regions.

Brief Introduction

The 1st China South Asia Expo was held in Kunming International Convention and Exhibition Center. Bengal is the theme country of the 1st China South Asia Expo There were 42 participating countries and regions and 2420 indoor pavilions with 3188 exhibition booths, covering an area of 511,000 square meters.

The popular goods are handmade blankets in Afghanistan, black tea in Sri Lanka, India scarf and Silver ornament and Nepalese wood carving.
