Location: Bafangshu Mosque (华宁县八方树清真寺) is located east of Panxi Town in Huaning County, Yunnan Province, China. It overlooks Panxi Town across the Nanpan River and serves as an emerging village for the Hui Muslim community.
Community Background
The residents are all Hui Muslims who settled here after December 1980, migrating across the Nanpan River from Panxi Town. Currently, there are approximately 200 households with a population of over 1,000 people. As the population grows and the village expands, there has been a pressing demand for the construction of a mosque.
Historical Development
Initial Construction
With strong support and assistance from local Muslims in Bafangshu Village, as well as from Sha Dian, Na Jia Ying, Kunming, and other places, the construction of Bafangshu Mosque officially commenced on July 12, 1992. The main prayer hall was completed on February 21, 1993. Due to financial constraints, other construction projects of the mosque remain incomplete and are still in the fundraising phase.

Bafangshu Mosque has completed its main prayer hall, adopting a unique architectural style that blends Chinese and Arabic elements. Its innovative design, combined with its location amidst hills and waters, enhances its grandeur, evoking a sense of solemnity and dignity.

Bafangshu Mosque covers an area of 3.6 mu (approximately 2.4 hectares), with the main prayer hall spanning 325 square meters. Including other unfinished buildings, the total construction area will exceed 2,400 square meters upon completion.

Bafangshu Mosque is situated in Panxi Town, Huaning County, Yunnan Province, China. It is easily accessible within the town, facilitating visits from both local residents and tourists.
