Dajianshan Mountain in Songming County, Kunming

Overview

Dajianshan Mountain (大尖山), also known as Sanjianshan (三尖山), is the highest peak in Songming County (嵩明县), standing at an altitude of 2,840 meters. It is one of the ten peaks in the Kunming (昆明) area and is the third peak I have climbed. Located northwest of Songming County, the mountain stretches approximately 33 kilometers in length and 16 kilometers in width, boasting a high coverage of vegetation primarily consisting of coniferous forests. The mountain features expansive grasslands and scattered Yunnan pine forests, which bloom with various unknown flowers in spring and summer, creating a unique and picturesque landscape.

With a large coverage of pine trees, Dajianshan Mountain is carpeted with assorted wildflowers, including azaleas. The mountain is home to Miao (苗族) ethnic communities, who are typically known for their beautiful Christian choir performances.

Dajianshan Village

Dajianshan Village (大尖山村) is a natural village located in Gengjiaying Yi and Miao Ethnic Township (耿家营彝族苗族乡) of Yiliang County (宜良县), Kunming City. The village is situated 3 kilometers from the village committee and 8 kilometers from the township government. Covering an area of 2.47 square kilometers, the village lies at an altitude of 1,900 meters, with an average annual temperature of 14.0°C and annual precipitation of 1,056 millimeters. This environment is suitable for cultivating crops such as corn and flue-cured tobacco.
