Geographical Location and Administrative Divisions: Da Xing Di Township is located in the middle of Lushui City, on both sides of the Nujiang River. It lies between 98°51′ – 99°21′ E and 26°00′ – 26°13′ N, with a total area of 406.28 square kilometers (actual area of 455 square kilometers). The township is bordered by Yunlong County to the east, Liuku Town to the south, Laowozhen Township and Lupalm Town to the southeast and southwest, Myanmar to the west, and Chenggan Township to the north. The township government is located in Denglongba, which is 23 kilometers away from the city of Lukou, the seat of the Nujiang Prefecture government. The township administers 1 community and 7 administrative villages.
Cultural and Historical Background: Da Xing Di Township is named after the Lisu word for “skyflower meadow,” referring to the abundance of skyflowers in the area. The township has a rich history and cultural heritage, with the Lisu people making up 93% of the population. It was historically part of the Laowozhen jurisdiction and underwent several administrative changes before being officially designated as Da Xing Di Township in 1987.
Natural Environment: The township is situated in the Hengduan Mountains’ longitudinal valley area, characterized by high mountains and deep valleys. The highest altitude is 3,967 meters, while the lowest is 890 meters.
