Puer has a long history before 109 BC. It is located in the southwest of Yunnan Province. It is adjacent to Honghe and Yuxi in the east, Xishuangbanna in the south, Dali and Chuxiong in the north. It is bordered by Vietnam and Laos in the southeast and Myanmar in the southwest. Puer City was once an important station on the Ancient Tea-Horse Road. Geography

The mountains in Pu'er City are ups and downs, and the mountain area in the whole area accounts for 98.3%. The Tropic of Cancer crosses the central part of Pu'er City. History

Before 109 BC, the present Puer was the southern boundary of the Ancient Dai Country “Mengdaguang(勐达光)”(Ailao Country in Chinese). In 109 BC, the Han Dynasty conquered the Dian State(滇国) and the Kunming and other tribes in Yizhou County, and the forces were extended into the "Mengdaguang" (Ailao Country). Buwei(不韦), Xitang(嶲唐), Bisu(比苏), Xielong(邪龙), Yeyu(叶榆) and other counties (bases) were assigned to Yizhou County.

Mineral Resources

Pu'er City was once an important post on the Ancient Tea Horse Road. It is one of the important producing areas of the famous Pu'er tea and one of the largest tea producing areas in China. Pu'er is rich in natural resources. The proven gold reserves are 103.7 tons; the iron reserves are only 2.1 billion tons of Huimin iron ore; the copper reserves are 2.53 million tons; and the lead reserves are 355,000 tons. The Jiangcheng Potash Mine is the only soluble solid potash mine in the country with the reserves of more than 20 million tons.

Pu'er City has a water energy reserve of 15 million kilowatts and is an important base for “West-to-East Power Transmission”.
