Jingdong Yi Autonomous County is affiliated to Pu’er City, Yunnan Province. It is located in the southwestern part of Yunnan Province and the northern end of Pu’er City. It is located between 100°22’-101°15’ east longitude and 23°56’-24°29’ north latitude. The county is bordered by Chuxiong City and Shuangbai County, and the south is opposite to Zhenyuan County. The west of Jingdong County looks at Yunxian County by Lancang River. The north of Jingdong is connected with Nanjian County and Midu County. The area is 4,532 square kilometers. The county seat of Jingdong County,Jinping Town is away from Kunming City, the provincial capital, 477 kilometers and is 279 kilometers away from Pu’er City.
Highlights
Long History: In the 1986 cultural relics survey, the stone axe, stoneware and other objects of the Neolithic Age were discovered in the Lancang River flowing through the county and along the Chuanhe River, which is indicated that human beings lived in Jingdong in ancient times.
Multi-ethnic Settlement: At the end of 2016, Jingdong Yi Autonomous County was home to 26 ethnic groups, including Han, Yi, Hani, Yao, Dai and Hui.
Abundant Natural Resources: It is abundant in forestry resources, land resources, biological resources, mineral resources, and water resources. Jingdong County is home to black-crowned gibbons, as key state protective animals. It is also home to thrushes.
