Flowers Travel Tips around Kunming City
Kunming, known as the “Spring City,” is surrounded by mountains on three sides with Dianchi Lake to the south. Dianchi Lake, the largest plateau lake in Kunming and the sixth largest freshwater lake in China, plays a crucial role in regulating the city’s temperature and humidity, allowing flowers to bloom throughout the year.
Jacaranda Blossom
Every year from late spring to early summer, jacaranda flowers grace the streets of Kunming with their stunning purple cone-shaped inflorescence and pinnate compound leaves. As the petals gently fall, the atmosphere becomes truly romantic. One of Kunming’s most iconic sights is the Jacaranda Avenue, stretching about 2 km from Xuefu Road to Jiaochangzhong Road along the northern Erhuan Road. This avenue is celebrated as a nationally famous landscape.
Introduced to Kunming in 1984 from Algeria by the Kunming Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences, jacaranda trees thrive as tall, beautiful road landscape trees. They typically bloom from April to June, albeit for a shorter period compared to their native habitat.
